I went to this fantastic premier, played by the RSNO last night. Its the second UK premier of the Scottish composer, James MacMillan's that I've seen over the last couple of months (the last being Little Mass). Both of them have been amazingly interesting pieces. This piece is about the renowned fighter and warrior Oscar who died of wounds after a fight with King Cairbre. The music is roughly three parts and the orchestration is very imaginative and dramatic.
I highly recommend you try to see it if it comes to your city.
