I feel I have done a lot of work today. Seven hours at least working on my electro acoustic composition. Its getting there. For solo violin and tape. I cannot decide if its best to work in Sibelius and then export midi to Logic (where the tape part can be heard), or whether to play it in in Logic and then notate by ear in Sibelius. Any views out there?

This is a very cool music video showing what is possible through animation and storytelling. By Corin Hardy. Had an exhausting but fun day yesterday. Sibelius work and composing in the morning. followed by orchestra in the afternoon - tuning to woodwinds, I did think we were all having to tune down from normal... Playing stratospherically up the fingerboard. Then playing guitar until 9 pm with pipers (guitar is not really my instrument but I try). Then out to play at the Canon's Gait. Fiddle all too low from the afternoon. Much retuning required not helped by the changes in temperature etc.
Someone came up to me and said what a beautiful player I was and how they liked to watch my fingers. Felt happy at the compliment. I had been watching her play too - she's good. Back home at midnight , bit to eat, catch up with the news . Bed at 1.30 am. What a great day. Béla Bartok is one of the most influential composers of the twentieth century. I have been looking at his Sonata for 2 pianos and percussion. He liked pounding rhythms, polytonality and folk tunes. These are all woven into his pieces.
I highly recommend the book below if you are interested in finding out more about him. He wrote many masterpieces. I have composed a quite a few contemporary classical electroacoustic pieces this year. Found this really interesting. So I'm going to go to Leeds College of Music to study it some more in the summer. Part of continuing professional development. Can't wait.
